Fiddlin' and Diddlin' - Daily Links 5/19

Herald Paul Pierce, Celtics get last word on LeBron James, Cavaliers Paul Pierce, LeBron James stir memories of 88 FL's Take: I watched that '88 game 7 this morning and what a game. Truly a classic as was last night's game. P.J. Brown provides blast from past in 4th FL's Take: Who would have thought that PJ Brown would be the hero of the game. The difference between Pierce's performance and LeBron's was that when it mattered, Pierce's teammates showed up and LeBron's didn't.  read more »

Fiddlin' and Diddlin' - Daily Links 5/25

Herald Celtics start loud, quiet crowd, silence Pistons in Detroit FL's Take: I have said from the beginning that if they Celtics play their game they6 are tough to beat. In all of their losses, the Celtics didn't play defense like they are capable of and last night they showed just how tough they are when they bring their A game. Whats up with Chauncey Billups?  read more »

Fiddlin' and Diddlin' - Daily Links 5/22

Herald Paul Pierce has long memory Doc Rivers lets actions speak Rajon Rondo knows Chauncey Billups battle far from over FL's Take: If it was the hamstring that was bothering him in game 1, Billups will continue to struggle, but if it was just rust on his game, he will come out stronger in game 2. He did seem to play better in the 4th quarter than he did in the first 3, so I wouldn't count him out. Kevin Garnett, Rasheed Wallace see eye-to-eye Ray Allen will keep shooting until something goes in FL's Take: If it is mental, I think Ray will start hitting his shots again as he can work through the mental problems.  read more »

Fiddlin' and Diddlin' - Daily Links 5/24

Herald So much at stake Big problem on defensive end for Celtics vs. Pistons FL's Take: Defense will be the key to this series. The Pistons picked up their defense and the Celtics lost focus on the offensive end. The Celtics stopped playing their defense and it allowed the Pistons to win in Boston. The team that plays defense the most consistently will win the series. Rough road ahead Crucial play makes cut Globe Road to redemption Cities share series of hoop moments FL's Take: They showed some highlights from the '87 game between these two on NBA Daily and it brought back some good memories. Pistons Steal Home Court, Tie Series at 1-1

The first quarter was one of runs. The Celtics came out strong and got off to a 10-4 lead in the first 5 minutes. The Pistons came back to tie it at 14 with 2:20. They traded baskets and the quarter ended with the Celtics up 20-18. Doc started the 2nd quarter with Powe, PJ, House, Pierce and Posey. Leon already had 2 rebounds in just 2 minutes of play but for some reason, Doc sat him in favor of Big Baby who played 6 minutes with only 1 point to show for it. Doc played Tony Allen almost 5 minutes but he looked rusty and finished with just 1 foul.

That's The Way To Start A Series - Pistons Take Game One

The Detroit Pistons and The Orlando Magic faced off in Game One of the second round Saturday evening in Detroit. What did Detroit accomplish besides a convincing 91-72 win on their home court? They tamed the beast that is Dwight Howard. Howard, who was averaging 22 points and 18 boards in Orlando's first round series with The Raptors, was corralled by a number of Pistons bodies that they threw at him. Orlando's Superman scored just 12 points with 8 boards, 3 blocked shots and quite a few goal tending calls.

Face It: The Nuggets Arent that Good

(Boulder-CO) A lot of things jumped out at me pertaining to the Nuggets last night while at the Pepsi Center. Sure, the Detroit Pistons are a beast coming out of the watered down east, but by the Nuggets losing to them in the fashion that they did only proved to me that this team is anything but playoff ready. Amongst other things that I will get into further detail later, the Nuggets have four very basic but fatal flaws. First, they have no leadership. Thats right, I just said it. There is no vocal leader on this team that takes charge of the game on either end of the floor. Denver can chalk this one up to spending too much money in other places and then trying to throw flimsy solutions in at the point. The next flaw in the Nuggets' game is they have nothing resembling an offense.  read more »

The Pistons are 2-0 Out West after Win in Denver

Detroit's balanced attack and anything goes defense helped The Pistons get past The Nuggets in a very tight game in Denver. The game was up for grabs, but it didn't hurt the Pistons that Chauncey Billups scored nine of his 20 points in the fourth quarter hitting some Big Shots down the stretch in The Pistons 98-93 victory.
