Q&A: Jeremy from Pickaxe and Roll

The Warriors kick off the the MOST IMPORTANT WEEKEND OF THE SEASON Saturday night in Denver. We thought it would be great to have our SBNation brother and Mile High Favorite Jeremy from Denver Nuggets blog Pickaxe and Roll on the show. Make the jump for his many insights on the Nuggets.

Jeremy also mic'ed me up over at Pickaxe and Roll. Click and roll on over there to read my thoughts about why it's so fun to root for this Warriors team, how Monta Ellis has stepped up this season, what rookie Brandan Wright needs to do to get more PT, the Warriors in 9 potential playoff matchups, and the greatness that is Raider Nation.  read more »

Fast Break Thoughts

The Lakers are not going to win the NBA title this year, and it is my fault. I want to apologize to all Lakers fans in advance. You see, my wife and I are expecting our third daughter in early June. Were excited, although a little nervous that moving from two to three kids means a change from man-to-man to zone defense. But before you say congratulations, understand that this likely will cost the Lakers any shot at the title. My first two daughters were born during the NBA playoffs as well. The first was during the 2004 Lakers/Pistons NBA Finals. Dont think I need to remind you how that turned out. The second daughter came two years later: Just at the start of the Lakers/Suns first round playoff series. You remember, the one the Lakers led 3-1 before falling apart.  read more »

OT Fuels My Dislike for the Utah Jazz

(AP Photo/David Zalubowski) The Nuggets went through another 53 minutes of basketball with the Utah Jazz tonight with a less favorable outcome than Monday nights victory over the Portland Trailblazers. It was apparent early in this game that the play was going to be physical and that the tougher, both mentally and physically, team was going to emerge the winner. And it pains me more than you know to report the Nuggets lost, 118-115, to the foul happy Utah Jazz.  read more »

Nuggets Escape the Grizzlies

(Boulder-CO) The Denver Nuggets were sleep walking through 45 minutes of tonights game with the Memphis Grizzlies, but found a way to ignite late in the fourth quarter to win, 106-102, and end their road losing streak at seven games while avoiding a season-high tying three straight losses overall. The start of this game was full of news that players from both teams were not going to be able to play for a range of assorted reasons.  read more »

RECAP: Warriors 114, Mavs 104 - Time to 'Step up'

Final Yahoo! boxscore

Top flight point guards are a must in this league

It's March Madness and the Warriors improved their chances by making it to the NBA versions of the big 'dance.'  The Warriors 'took it to the streets' last night.  If the Warriors were Omarion and Marques Houston, then the Mavs were those nameless kids with the overly spikey hair from the OC (why is it that they have to make the white kids have really spikey hair?).  Meaning?  Those suckas (Mavs) got served!  read more »

Nuggets vs. Wizards: Game 49 Preview

(Boulder-CO) With Caron Butler, All-Star, questionable tonight after missing four of the last six games with a hip flexor injury the Nuggets should be able to assist Washington lose their sixth straight game- a season-high skid. Plus, the Nuggets need to start a new winning streak at Pepsi Center after losing to the Jazz in overtime (cringe) on Wednesday night. The Nuggets are a stout 20-6 at home so far this year while the Wizards are only 9-13 on the road.  read more »

Nuggets Hand Nets Eighth Straight Loss

(Boulder-CO) The Denver Nuggets once again received three 20+ efforts and were able to hand the New Jersey Nets their eighth-straight loss while winning their seventh-straight home game, 100-85. The Nuggets played a combination of stingy defense and consistent offense to subdue the Nets by keeping them two steps behind for the entire game. In the first half, the Nuggets and the Nets were both struggling offensively and were shooting the exact same lousy percentage from the field. However, the Nuggets were in cruise control at halftime by means of a 16-point lead due to getting to the free-throw line far more frequently and making more of their attempts. In fact, it was the only statistical shooting difference in the first numbing 24 minutes.  read more »
